About MVFD

MVFD was founded in 1980 and is the first responder for emergencies in an especially challenging area just to the east of Sonoma Valley. The terrain is vast—over 7200 acres; steep—rising from 300’ on the valley floor to over 2,300’ in just five miles of roadway, making access difficult and time consuming; prone to extremes in weather—drought in the summer and fall, with the heightened risk of fire; and storms in the winter

Recently MVFD became part of Sonoma Valley Fire and Rescue (SVFRA) and our stations were renumbered to avoid confusion.

We have two fire stations:

Station 8 is located at the intersection of Trinity and Cavedale Roads.

Station 9 is located on Cavedale road, 5 miles from highway 12 and 2 miles from station 8.

We currently have 12 volunteer firefighters that are fully trained to state firefighting standards. We have 4 fire engines. We are always looking for people interested in becoming volunteer fire fighters - please email us at info@mayacamasvfd.org if you are interested!

MVFD Board meetings are open to the public and occur on the second Monday of each month at 5pm. They are held at Station 8.

The Mayacamas Volunteer Fire Department is a 501(c)3 corporation. Our federal tax ID number is 94-2750728.
